The Mental Health Foundation UK charity and online mental health programme producer Wellmind Health today officially announced the launch of a ground-breaking web app for their online mindfulness course, Be Mindful.

The Mental Health Foundation’s director of communications and fundraising, Mark Rowland, explains:

"During our five-year journey with mindfulness we have been working hard to enable more people to access the benefits of mindfulness and ensure the highest quality, evidence-based product for a positive experience. I know this course works because I’ve tried it and experienced the benefits."

"This significant design refresh and a 50% reduction in price means thousands more people can access the course and enjoy all the advantages it offers for good mental health."

Now fully responsive and mobile-friendly, Be Mindful is the only fully online mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and stress reduction course, fully evaluated for its effectiveness and backed up by leading academic research. It can be completed in as little as four weeks and users have lifetime access to the course’s content.

In addition to the web app launch, Wellmind Health and the Foundation have substantially reduced the cost for individual participants to only £30, further contributing to its increased accessibility and their mission to help everyone Be Mindful.

Over 12,000 people have now taken the Be Mindful online course, giving it an average user star rating of 4.6 out of 5. On average, people completing the course experience a 39% reduction in stress, 52% reduction in depression and a 53% reduction in anxiety.

"We’ve deployed the very latest in web technology, meaning that Be Mindful is now accessible through any computer device, with only an internet connection required - mindfulness is now available on the go!" says Richard Latham, CEO of Wellmind Health.

In addition, Be Mindful is being used by an increasing number of employers and healthcare providers. For the NHS, Be Mindful could reduce service costs and shrink waiting lists, good news when budgets are tight for public services.

In workplaces, Be Mindful has been proven to reduce staff fatigue and rumination and improve sleep quality, all of which can contribute to reducing staff sickness, increasing resilience, reducing stress levels and assisting staff in returning to work.

As a result, the partnership is now offering annual licenses for the course that enable organisations and services to offer unlimited access to the programme for their staff and patients.
